Âşık Veysel (1894 - 1973) was a legendary Turkish singer, poet, and troubadour. Veysel has dozens of songs to his name, each of which is still widely listened to. He is known by both the young and old, enjoying an almost mythical status. Unesco declared 2023 as official Âşık Veysel commemoration year.
