The Greek Fanis grows up in Istanbul, where he learns a lot of his culinary passionate grandfather. His careless youth gets a twist when the family has to move. Back to Greece. There, Fanis builds up his life after grandfathers philosophy. When after years of political tension he returns to his birth town, it is time to take his life into consideration. ‘A touch of spice’ zooms in on the so-called Istanbul Pogrom, that reduced the Greek community in Istanbul between 1955 and 1978 from 135 000 to 7000 people. The film received no less than eight! Awards on the Greek State Film Awards in 2003, including the award for best film, best screenplay and best music.
