Babacar

Babacar Mbaye, the Senegalese griot with a long musical history at De Centrale, returns for a special café concert at ENTR.
Between December 2007 and March 2014, Babacar appeared on stage in Ghent multiple times—solo, with his group Geej, or in collaboration with formations such as Les Fils d’Afrique.

Now Babacar comes back to Ghent for an intimate evening where he shares his rich musical heritage. His music, deeply inspired by his griot roots, is carried by his high, sensitive voice with a completely unique character. Babacar is known for his powerful, poetic lyrics, with melody and meaning at the core—no matter how essential rhythm remains in his work.

It promises to be a warm reunion with an artist who seamlessly weaves tradition, authenticity, and emotion into every performance.

On top of that, this concert marks the beautiful finale of our café-concert season.
