Jalal Chekara (Granada, Tetuan) is seen as a musical bridge builder between flamenco and Arabo Andalus. He followed in the footsteps of his legendary uncle Abdesadaq Chekara (1933-1998), making music in the border between flamenco and the popular music of northern Morocco. His raw voice and velvet violin play make him particularly popular in both Spain and Morocco.During the 2017 Flamenco Biennale in the Netherlands, he went to full halls and took the audience figuratively to the cafes of Tetuan and the village squares of Andalucia.
Musicians from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and the Dutch flamenco summit make a musical journey with rousing rhythms, harmonious transitions and gossamer improvisations.
