Ljubojna – Macedonian music with a global twist!

Ljubojna is more than just a band; it’s a musical journey that effortlessly blends traditional Macedonian music with influences from pop, jazz, electronica, and soul. Led by Oliver Josifovski and Vera Josifovska Miloshevska, the group has been pushing the boundaries of Macedonian and Balkan music for over 20 years.

With their unique sound, perfectly balancing composition and improvisation, Ljubojna continues to explore the limits of Balkan music with energy, rich melodies, and irresistible grooves!

Ledebirds is a vibrant and diverse group of musicians and singers, featuring members from Italy, Palestine, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Iran, and even Eritrea. What unites them is music—the universal language that takes on a unique sound within this group.

The driving force behind Ledebirds is Mattias Laga, a Belgian saxophonist and clarinetist with a deep passion for world music and a strong background in jazz improvisation. In addition to his work with Jaune Toujours and Mec Yek, Ledebirds is his brainchild.

Fifteen years ago, Mattias founded the group with one goal: to bring the people of Ledeberg together through music. What started as a neighborhood initiative quickly grew into a well-established name in Ghent and beyond.

Ledebirds is living proof that music connects people—across cultures, generations, and backgrounds. Their repertoire is as diverse as their members, making every performance a reflection of the rich and dynamic community they represent.

De Centrale celebrates its 30th anniversary, and we won’t let it go unnoticed! We kick off the festivities with a fantastic three-day birthday event on April 24, 25, and 26. The program is packed with musical highlights:

Thursday, April 24: LJUBOJNA + LEDEBIRDS – Macedonian sounds, international flair, and local support.

Friday, April 25: AL-OUSTAZ BAND – A tribute to Mohamed Abdul Wahab.

Saturday, April 26: FELA KUTI CELEBRATION BAND + DJ AZAM – A musical homage to the king of Afrobeat.
