Nana Osei-Twum Barima, a young and talented harp-lute player, singer, percussionist, and dancer from Ghana, discovered the seperewa at an early age—a harp-lute with an enchanting sound that you absolutely must hear. In his performances, he weaves the delicate tones of the mbira (thumb piano) with a rich variety of percussion instruments, from the deep resonance of the thigh and water calabash to the rhythmic sounds of the Ghanaian percussion box and bamboo percussion.
Roland Van Campenhout, born in 1944 in Boom, is a versatile Flemish blues musician known for his dynamic live performances and experimental musical style. Since his debut in the 1960s, he has explored a wide range of genres, including folk, rock, country, and world music. He has collaborated with prominent artists such as Rory Gallagher, Tim Hardin, and Arno Hintjens, building an impressive career.
Nana and Roland have previously performed together, including at the Les Goûts de Gand festival in 2024. Their collaboration blends Roland’s raw blues guitar with the rich, organic sounds of Nana’s instruments, resulting in a captivating and unique musical experience.
