NUBYIAN TWIST + VENTILATEUR ★ Democrazy

Brittish collective without musical borders

This collective from Leeds is a pioneer in the London scene without musical borders: soul, jazz, hip hop, afro beat, latin, dub and electronics can be heard. Big names that preceded you as a fan: Nubiyan Twist is one of the family in the BBC6-show of Gilles Peterson, Mulatu Astatke sings a song on the new record Jungle Run and David Byrne already put the band in 2015 on the billboard of the Meltdown Festival, of which he was the curator.
Virtuoso musicians, producers and composers: Nubiyan Twist has them all. Guitarist/producer Tom Excell is the thriving force; there are 4 hons, 3 vocalists and an international rhythm section( Brasil /UK)
Their second LP Jungle Run was released on Februari 15th with Strut. Beside the unique voice of Nubiya Brandon, other singers can be heard as well on the album: sax player Nick Richardsbears the first killer single “Tell it to me Slowly”, but also the Ghanean stat K.O.G., Tony 'Afrobeat' Allen ('Ghosts') and Ethiojazz-pioneer Mulatu Astatke ('Addis To London') are joining. Join the cult!
Support act is VENTILATEUR, a trio from Bruges that combines influences from jazz, rock and fusion to produce an instrumentally powerfull sound, that can vary any second between dreamy soundscapes, firm rhythms and whirling licks. Live shows are invariably embellished by improvisation, with which the band knits their songs together.
