A Musical Journey Through Central and Southeastern Europe

Let yourself be carried away by the power of collective musical expression in this vibrant and energetic performance. Under the guidance of Galina Velikova and Wouter Vandenabeele, the participants of De Centrale bring music from Central and Southeastern Europe to life. From Bulgarian dance rhythms and Romanian melodies to Greek folk songs and Hungarian gems – the repertoire is enriched with influences from the Arab world, Turkey, the Balkans, and various folk traditions.

Balkan Choir

De Centrale’s Balkan Choir explores the rich vocal repertoire of Central and Southeastern Europe, featuring music from countries such as Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, and Romania. The approach is accessible and gradually built up, with lively melodies and danceable rhythms forming the core of the material.

Ensemble Workshop

Ensemble playing is an essential and inspiring part of musical development. In this workshop, musicians discover the joy, learning, and connection that come from making music together. The repertoire spans folk, Arab, Turkish, and Balkan styles – a fascinating blend of musical traditions.

Jam Session

Following the performance, a jam session invites musicians and listeners alike to join in, dance, or simply enjoy the magical energy that only live music can create.
