SPEELMAN + CIGGY SUNDAY

Double Bill between wistfulness and Sunday haze

Speelman

The S stands for singer-songwriter, but also for Simon. What once began as an intimate solo adventure has since grown into a versatile musical collective that comes to life in different forms. Expect honest stories — rough around the edges but straight from the heart — carried by skilled craftsmanship and strengthened by musicians who understand what music is truly about. Speelman makes music for city nomads, lost souls, and love with scars. Think wistful piano ballads, honest country, and understated blues — with the occasional spark of Baroque ’n’ Roll …

Hendrik Hammink (guitar), Choi Ka Wien (bass), Jutter Lannoo (drums), Bram Van Loey (cello) & Simon Peelman (guitar, piano & vocals)

Ciggy Sunday

Sleepy, surfy, jazzy: that’s how the members of Ciggy Sunday describe their music. The Ghent-based, West-Flemish band delivers a smooth, laid‑back sound in which surf pop is infused with a touch of valium and finished with subtle jazz influences. Think dreamy melodies that sometimes evoke Mammal Hands, and at other moments the laid‑back charm of Mac DeMarco.

A gorgeous saxophone line, a sultry voice, and danceable, mellow grooves form the core of their universe — like a Sunday feeling washing over you on a Thursday evening.

Lars Van Derzijpen (guitar, vocals), Kawien Choi (bass), Anton Depoortere (saxophone), Arne Theunissen (drums), and Yochen Moust (keys)
