Content: This workshop approaches traditional bağlama playing techniques for various saz instruments within the bağlama family, such as the kısa sap saz (short-neck saz), uzun sap saz (long-neck saz), dede sazi, kopuz, cura, etc. The workshop will also cover the various tuning variations (düzen) such as bağlama düzeni, kara düzen, and misket düzeni from different regions in Anatolia.
Bio: Cengiz Özkan is a renowned singer, bağlama player, and composer, born in 1967 in Istanbul. He is known for his deeply expressive interpretations of Turkish folk music, with a particular focus on türkü (traditional songs) and aşık poetry. His style is characterized by simplicity, emotional depth, and respect for tradition. Özkan has released several albums and is a highly regarded artist both in Turkey and internationally. In addition to his performances, he is also active as a teacher of traditional Turkish music.
