In this masterclass, we will explore several samba and bossa nova jazz pieces and delve into the style and characteristics of these genres with Nilson Matta. Known for its groovy rhythms, rich harmonic language, and dynamic interplay between all instruments and vocals, this style will be showcased through various bossa and samba standards.

Experience with your instrument, vocals, and improvisation is required to fully benefit from the workshop. Please bring your own instrument, as well as amplifiers and microphones if needed.

Nilson Matta is a Brazilian double bassist with an impressive track record. In addition to being a musician, Nilson Matta is the artistic director of the Sambameets Jazz workshops in the US and Brazil.
