Open Call. Programmers wanted for Young Curators Evening!

In 2024, Ghent holds the title of European Youth Capital. Therefore, the conference is entirely dedicated to youth, with the theme 'Tomorrow Comes Today'. In collaboration with De Centrale, in addition to the official showcase program, we offer a stage for one evening to young curators. Are you a passionate young programmer or a collective with a love for jazz and event organizing? This is your chance to host a stage on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in the Basement Hall of De Centrale!

Who is it for?

This call is aimed at young programmers and organizers who are taking or want to take their first steps in the music sector.

What do we offer?

You have the unique opportunity to host a stage during the European Jazz Conference in Ghent and the possibility to showcase your favorite emerging jazz artists.

In the run-up to EJC, you will receive professional support from De Centrale, Ha'Concerts, JazzLab & VI.BE in developing your musical program. We provide a guidance program consisting of two work sessions and one networking moment full of inspiration, with loads of knowledge from experts and valuable tips & tricks for programming, organizing, and promoting your own event.

What are the requirements?

You are a young programmer between 18 and 30 years old.

Experience is not required, but you have an affinity for jazz and an interest in organizing events.

You already have a concrete idea of how you want to fill the evening and which artists you want to program. You can add an enthusiastic pitch to your registration for this open call.

You are available all day on Thursday, September 12, from the start to the end of the event.

You are available to attend two preparatory work sessions on Monday, June 3, and Monday, June 24, both at 7 pm.

How to participate?

Registration is open until Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 11:59 pm via this link (info in Dutch!).

By Friday, May 24, 2024, at the latest, we will contact the selected curators. Good luck!"
