Music, mezze & rakı – the magic of Istanbul, live in Ghent
The group recently performed at the Istanbul Ekspres Festival, where their concert was completely sold out. So this is a wonderful second chance for those who couldn’t be there – or for those who were and just can’t get enough!
During a traditional fasıl evening, you’ll enjoy delicious mezze and rakı, Turkey’s national anise-flavored drink. This light classical music once resonated in Ottoman palaces and elegant homes, and today you’ll mostly hear it in Istanbul’s restaurants. After all, a fasıl isn’t complete without a table full of food and drinks.
The İstanbul Fasıl Ensemble performs both Turkish classical music and fasıl, immersing you in the atmosphere of Istanbul nights. Expect a lively evening full of Turkish hospitality, ambiance, darbuka show, and oriental dance.
Line-up:
Sadiye Erimli (vocals), Altan Gözetlik (clarinet), Mustafa Dedeoğlu (qanun), Emre Işık (oud & guitar), Gökhan Karcebaş (cello) & Barış Durak (percussion).
