ALIREZA GHORBANI

Persian virtuosity

Iranian singer Alireza Ghorbani is blessed with a golden voice and great musicality, which were discovered and further developed at an early age.  Already as a child he was immersed in traditional Iranian music, and knows the 'radif' (the classical repertoire) like the back of his hand. The radif is an inexhaustible source of musical material that is always interpreted in new ways. This historical repertoire unites melodies from all Iranian provinces and peoples, and is structured according to the rhythm of classical poetry. Alireza Ghorbani is not only at home in the traditional repertoire but also in the slightly classical style. In addition, he performs new compositions, collaborates with musicians and vocalists from other cultures, and provides the music for numerous films and series.

Together with Saman Samimi (kamanche and setar), Milad Mohammadi (tar and setar) and Zakaria Yousefi (percussion), Alireza Ghorbani performs vocal and instrumental improvisations based on the radif, old songs (tasnifs) and new compositions.
