Efkan şeşen was born in Istanbul in 1963, but his roots are in Artvin, Northern Turkey by the Black Sea. Between ’87 and ’91, he was the lead singer of the band ‘Grup Yorum’. In ’91 he decided to continue solo. The Black Sea always had a great influence on his music. In 2004 he releases the album album "Pek de Tanınmayan / Karadeniz" with songs from the region. In 2012 he celebrated his 25th jubilee with the album "Soluk Soluğa 25 Yıl”. In 2013 he releases the album "Çocuksu Şarkılar". Since 2016 he lives in the Netherlands. He regularly performs with his wife (Didar Sesen) and his son Sinan, who studies jazz at the the international art college Codarts in Rotterdam. They are currently working together on a new album.
