Group Tını brings a program with traditional Antatolian folk music. Grup Tını consists of Ghent folk musicians with Turkish roots. You can usually see Groep TINI (founded in 2006) at work as a house orchestra in the 'Muzikantenhuis' in the Dampoortstraat, known to many music lovers as one of the most striking crossroads between Flemish, Turkish and other (folk) music in Ghent. These Ghent musicians with Turkish roots play striking songs from the traditional Anatolian folk music, under the direction of Mustafa Avsar. The Turkish bağlama (or saz or long-necked lute) is central and - together with the melancholy vocal parts - is largely responsible for the often moving character of this Turkish "folk". For the 9th year in a row, GRUP TINI is on the big stage of De Centrale.
Also during this edition there is a special guest on the stage. Elif Buse Doğan is a young gifted singer who has gained quite a fame in Turkey in a short period of time with her fresh and contemporary interpretation of the rich Turkish folk music. A few years ago she was already on the stage of De Centrale, together with Nurettin Rençber.
Group TINI:
Mustafa Avsar (vocals, cura & baglama), Mustafa Tekir (vocals & baglama), Nil Gôrkem (dance & backing vocal), Ülkû Dursun (vocal), Merve Nur (vocal), Mehmed Karatas (guitar), Tuncay Yilmaz (percussion) & Arif (keyboard) + special guest Elif Buse Doğan (vocal)
