More than a concert, this is a journey through history, culture and sound.

In the evocative ruins of Saint Bavo’s Abbey, where the Spanish Castle once stood, Flanders and Mexico meet through music. Inspired by the legacy of Pedro de Gante, the Flemish Franciscan who travelled to Mexico in 1523 and used music as a bridge between cultures, this performance traces five centuries of encounter and exchange.

Mexican composer and musician Luiz Márquez and Colectivo Mezcal take audiences from pre-Columbian Mesoamerica to contemporary Mexico. Ancient sounds from Aztec, Maya and Olmec traditions blend with European instruments, creating a rich dialogue between past and present.

Against the monumental backdrop of Saint Bavo’s Abbey, music, heritage and visuals come together in a powerful tribute to cultural connection and the universal language of music.
