Maliheh Moradi, Sogol Mirzaei & Saghar Khadem

For the first time, three exceptional Iranian musicians share the stage as a trio. Vocalist Maliheh Moradi, târ and setâr virtuoso Sogol Mirzaei, and percussionist Saghar Khadem come together to bring the refinement, depth, and expressive power of the Persian musical tradition to life in all its splendour.

The title refers to the cypress tree, a powerful symbol in Iranian culture. Evergreen and enduring, it represents integrity, steadfastness, freedom, and inner strength. Inspired by this image, the trio has created a musical programme in which centuries-old traditions meet contemporary artistic expression.

Drawing on the poetry of Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, and other great Persian poets, the ensemble interweaves composed songs (tasnif), intimate vocal-instrumental dialogues (sâz-o-âvâz), and original improvisations. The result is a subtle yet deeply moving musical journey in which voice, strings, and percussion continually challenge, complement, and strengthen one another.

This music is not a relic of a distant past, but a living art form that continues to evolve. Rooted in a tradition passed down through generations, it still speaks today with remarkable relevance and emotional power.
