Mathias invites Karen Willems

On Tuesday, May 6, guitarist-composer Mathias Van de Wiele will present the third concert in a series of four at ENTR. For this session, he will be joined by the renowned Belgian drummer/percussionist Karen Willems.

Karen Willems is active in various fields. Her expressive, physical drum and percussion technique has brought her to Yuko, Zita Swoon Group, Zwerm, and Alabaster DePlume, among others.

With her project Inwolves, she took the first steps toward discovering the essence of her own music. Her solo project ‘Terre Sol’ expands on this.

Karen's work challenges traditional ideas of music and storytelling, inviting the audience into a space where sound, space, and human presence collide.

Eccentricity and playfulness go hand in hand with exercises in tension and release, calling for connection in antisocial times.

Mathias Van de Wiele, known for his work with Moker, Wheels, and the Yelemani Trio, has built a rich career in the Belgian and international music scene. As a musician and artistic director, he constantly creates surprising musical collaborations.
