Ollin Kan is the new music project by Renato Márquez, a violinist with Belgian-Mexican roots. During the corona pandemic, Renato began writing an album, allowing his creative self to roam freely. The result is Petrichor, an eclectic record with Southern, Eastern, classical, and Western influences. Renato started his career at a young age as a violinist and guitarist, following in the footsteps of his father, saxophonist Luiz Marquez. In recent years, Renato has been part of the live band of the internationally renowned French DJ Klingande, performing at events like Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival (Miami), Rock Werchter, and more.
Additionally, Renato collaborated with other artists such as Kungs, Bakermat, CJ Bolland, Magnus, Mezcal, Afro Brothers, Het Gespuis, Bruno Deneckere, Derek, Henri Pfr, Sophia, Eric Anderson, and many others.
Live performances by Ollin Kan feature this distinctive music accompanied by talented musicians/friends Steven Vergauwen (guitar), Stijn Tondeleir (bass guitar), and Eric Bosteels (drums). Ollin Kan defies simple classification into one music genre, offering freshness and a challenge for music enthusiasts. It immerses the listener in a new world that leaves an impact, inviting them to daydream into the universe of Petrichor.
Ollin Kan translates to "God of the Wind; Eternal Movement" in Aztec, while Petrichor refers to the scent after summer rain.
