SAN MIGUEL FRASER + PEYO PEEV & VLADIMIR VLADIMIROV (#FOTM8)

Fiddlers on the Move #8 – 5 days of fiddle madness

San Miguel Fraser

Celtic and Castilian fiddle duo, María San Miguel and Galen Fraser, are multi-instrumentalists and educators who celebrate the values of community and traditional music in their unique chamber music style.

San Miguel Fraser is a project that will always stand for community, celebrating the joy of music and shared inspiration. The dynamic duo was born as a result of the 2020 quarantine with the “Stay At Home Festival”. Thanks to the beautiful and universal folk community, they raised over $60,000 with the aim of bringing light to the world, maintaining morale and financially helping musicians around the globe. The “Stay At Home Festival” family lives on today with San Miguel Fraser.

Galen Fraser is an accomplished fiddle player, composer, engineer and producer from the foothills of Northern California. Best known for his modern take on celtic traditional music, he tours with the praised Galen Fraser Quartet, Soulsha, San Miguel Fraser and the Europe-baised Atlantic Folk Trio.

Castilian fiddler María San Miguel has studied classical violin in several European conservatories, though never forgetting her roots. Her fiery fiddling and soulful voice keep audiences thoroughly captivated. María has gone on to specialize in Castilian fiddle music and pedagogy for infants.

Peyo Peev & Vladimir Vladimirov

Peyo Peev is one of the most renowned gadulka players in Bulgaria today, a traditional three-stringed musical instrument played with a bow. He gives concerts actively and participates in different projects with the world-famous musicians Theodosii Spassov and the virtuoso players Ivo PapasovPetar Ralchev and Stoyan Yankulov. He has performed with different groups throughout Europe, the USA, Japan and has made a lot of recordings.  Since 2019, Peyo Peev has been a teacher in Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv. He won the Golden Gadulka prize twice, named after the famous gadulka player Yanko Petrov.  For this edition of Fiddlers on the Move he will perform with tambura player Vladimir Vladimirov, who also comes from Bulgaria (some diehard folk violin lovers maybe known from the Duo Vladimirov-Högstadius who performed during the first (2016) and fourth (2019) edition from Fiddlers on the Move).
