The Khan Brothers, the ensemble around the Ghent Rajasthani musicians Mahabub and Sattar Khan, descend from a musician community from the small village of Kerap in Rajasthan (North-West India). Their ancestors played for a local Maharaja. Today they share their rich musical tradition with us. They use poetry that has been passed down from generation to generation as a basis on which to improvise. They have a very wide traditional repertoire from folk over classical to exciting qawwali. Dancer Maya Sapera enchants us with her graceful movements that blend seamlessly with the melodies of the Thar desert.
Twenty years ago, Mahabub, Sattar and Maya first appeared on stage together in De Centrale. Today they do it again, with "full orchestra".
