ZEID HAMDAN + AZADI

The godfather of Lebanese underground

Zeid Hamdan is a key figure in the Arab world’s alternative music scene. The Lebanese producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist first made waves in the early 2000s with Soapkills - a pioneering duo he formed with Yasmine Hamdan - blending electronic sounds with Arabic melodies in a bold fusion that paved the way for a new generation of artists.

Often called the “Godfather of Lebanese underground”, Zeid has since carved out a prolific and deeply personal path, marked by cross-border collaborations and politically committed projects, including the vibrant Bedouin Burger.

In 2025, he’s taking the lead as music director for a tribute to the legendary Oum Kalthoum at Printemps de Bourges - all while preparing to release a new EP with MDLBEAST Records. Coming this spring: a mind-blowing live performance at the crossroads of psych-rock, hypnotic electronic layers, and echoes of his SWANA roots.

For his passage in Ghent Zeid brings his bass and keyboards and two singers, a guitarist and a drummer.

Support act Azadi is a young singer and guitarist who (will) release(d) her first tracks in April 2026 on Mdlbeast.
