Fatiha Alyoud and Ensemble present a special tribute to iconic Moroccan songs from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. An evening filled with nostalgia, emotion and musical richness, where timeless classics are brought back to life.
Featuring music by legendary artists such as Naima Samih, Samira Saïd, Abdelhadi Belkhayat, Mohammed El Ghawi, Ghita Ben Abdessalam, Brahim El Alami and many others, the most beautiful melodies from Morocco’s musical heritage are reinterpreted. Respecting the original spirit while embracing a contemporary musical approach, these songs are given a new life.
This concert is more than a musical tribute. It is a meeting point between generations and cultures. For those who grew up with this music, it evokes warm memories. For Belgian audiences, it offers a unique introduction to Morocco’s rich cultural and musical heritage. In this way, these treasured songs continue to live on and can be passed on to future generations.
For Fatiha Alyoud, this production is a personal tribute to the music she grew up with. With A Tribute to Moroccan Classics – Aghani Zaman (Songs of Times Gone By), she aims not only to honour the great artists who shaped Moroccan music, but also to keep their legacy alive. Music connects generations, brings memories to life and tells stories that should never be forgotten.
The musical direction is entrusted to Abdelrahim Semlali, a renowned violinist with an impressive track record in classical Arab and Andalusian music. His many years of experience and profound knowledge of the repertoire make an important contribution to the authentic sound and artistic quality of this exceptional performance.
During the concert, special archival footage and photographs of the original artists will be projected. This allows the audience not only to hear the music, but also to discover the artists and the musical history behind these beloved classics.
