KABUNGA . FREE CLUB CONCERT!

Kabunga immerses you in the age-old music tradition of the Bwa, a population group from Mali and Burkina Faso.  Kabunga combines traditional drums with modern instruments, and interweaves Bwa music with other African rhythms, jazz and blues into a surprising sound that is reminiscent of Fela Kuti's well-known Afrobeat. True to the Bwa tradition, Kabunga's performances are a wonderfully vibrant celebration of life full of infectious, danceable grooves.

Kabunga is a project by the Malian artist Zonatan Dembele, singer-bassist with Rokia Traoré, among others. Zonatan has been a guest at De Centrale more than once, with his own project but also featuring Kwame Mülzz, Steven De Bruyn and Roland Van Campenhout. He is also one of six residents who will be/are working artistically in De Centrale this season.
