Kayhan Kalhor & Erdal Erzincan

SOLD OUT!

Kayhan Kalhor and Erdal Erzincan both have a deep knowledge and background of the musical culture in which they grew up: the Iranian classical and regional styles, and the Turkish folk and Alevite music. Both play a typical instrument from their respective culture: the Iranian kamanche and the Turkish bağlama. As renowned artists and ambassadors of these two musical worlds, they are exceptionally strong in entering into a dialogue with other musical styles. Since their first musical acquaintance in 2006, their interplay has developed into a high quality, intimately entwined and mutually inspiring and inspired musical story. The Iranian and Turkish sounds, modes and melodies merge into a whole that sounds so natural that it is often impossible to determine which elements come from which culture. A musical relationship of this level is exceptional and leads to a unique listening experience. Together they conquered concert stages worldwide and released an enthusiastically received album (The Wind, ECM, 2006).
