After Ameen flees Syria, he meets Thorben in Hamburg. They start jamming together and it works right away. While the whole world talks about the refugees flooding Europe, Shkoon proves that mixing cultures can create something beautiful that enriches society. Although they come from completely different musical backgrounds, Ameen and Thorben feel a special creative connection. Shkoon takes the listener to higher realms. In their sets, Arabic scales and oriental melodies merge with western electronic downbeat, deep house, dub and hip-hop, a sound that Shkoon calls “Oriental Slow-House”.
“We like to play live, we improvise and interact with the audience. We like to spread positivity just to prove that music is the real key to peace in our eyes!”
Shkoon performed for the first time on the stage of De Centrale on April 13, 2019. Their debut album 'Rima' was released in December 2019, followed by an accompanying tour. The next concert scheduled at De Centrale on November 7, 2020 was cancelled because of Corona… but now they are back… life can be Shkoon!
