Moment of inspiration – Skills and competencies in participatory music projects

On Friday, February 2, 2024, Muziekmozaïek and Academic Chair Jonet/CESAMM organize in collaboration with De Centrale and Ha Concerts (CESAMM HUB partners for the province of East Flanders) an inspirational moment for musicians and session leaders in participatory music projects.

The moment of inspiration is introduced by Dr. Jo Gibson from York St. John University and Dr. An The bishop of Ghent University with a practice-oriented lecture about skills and competencies that musicians need in guiding participatory music projects.

This will be followed by a concrete insight into the Erasmus+ project Crossing Borders, Sharing Songs of the music organizations KleinVerhaal (Belgium), Flotsam Sessions (United Kingdom) and Orchester Partout (Netherlands). Muziekmozaïek followed this project and compiled the lessons learned in an online publication. This discusses, among other things, the methods used in these projects to create music with various groups. Based on concrete video fragments and workshops, you will receive tips about making music together in a culturally diverse context. We will be making (acoustic) music together, so bring your instrument!
