LÂMEKÂN ENSEMBLE ft. Derya Türkan & Necati Celik

Het Lâmekân Ensemble, dat in 2011 werd opgericht, dompelt ons onder in de klassieke muziek van het Ottomaanse Istanbul. Musici uit Turkije en West-Europa nemen ons op sleeptouw, op zoek naar paleizen, openbare plaatsen en soefikloosters waar de grote traditie van de Ottomaanse makam op het einde van de 18e en in de 19e eeuw floreerde.

Music from the Ottoman Court
The Lâmekân Ensemble, which was founded in 2011 by Tristan Driessens, submerges us in  the classical music from the Ottoman Istanbul.  Musicians from Turkey and Western Europe take us on tow. In search for palaces, public places and sufi convents where the great tradition of the Ottoman makam at the end of the 18th and in the 19th Century flourished. The Lâmekân Ensemble guarantees an authentic, balanced sound and unveils us the many faces of a rich urban culture. October saw the release of the album 'Gülzâr-ı  Vefâ/Garden of Fidelity' with M&MT Records (www.mmtrecords.com).
