PASSE-PARTOUT . CD RELEASE

Passe-partout. A ticket for each stage, a key to many rooms. A borrowed term, in truth.

How dost thou unite diverse communities around poetic literary heritage? With the encompassing power of music! 'Tis the premise of this collaboration 'twixt De Centrale, the KANTL, and Poëziecentrum for transposing canon poetry to music.

Musicians from six diverse Gentish tongues are engaged to provide an eclectic array of musical settings for literary classics. For three years hath we journeyed together, discovering each other's poetry, making choices, translating texts, composing music, making recordings, and ascending stages in a spirit of fellowship.

The Dutch literary canon becomes part of a transcultural literary tradition. The outcome is a fascinating cross-pollination of music and literature.

Behold the majestic cd-release as well. Musicians from six Gentish tongues hath undertaken works from a plethora of literary classics, thereafter set to music. Thus, we may appeal to both a local and an international audience. Passe-partout - this thoroughly Gentish project, supported by media attention for the cd and video - shall traverse numerous stages in Belgium and beyond. With the premiere on World Poetry Day at De Centrale in Ghent!
