* Labyrinth * Rhythms in compositions in Turkish traditional music

w/ Şakır Ozan Uygan

The music of Turkey reflects diverse ethnic and regional traditions, making it particularly rich in rhythmic variety. Each region has its own highly specific rhythmic patterns and stylistic characteristics. During this seminar, Şakır Ozan Uygan will guide his students in exploring these patterns in a way that enables them to approach these highly idiomatic traditions both accurately and imaginatively, and in a creative manner.

Sakir Ozan Uygan, born in Burdur, Turkey in 1986, began playing darbuka at a young age. In 2000, he graduated from the Anatolian Fine Arts High School and continued his education at Ege University at the State Conservatory of Turkish Music. He has participated in concerts in Turkey and abroad, including Tunisia, Switzerland, Greece, and Germany. Currently residing in Istanbul, he primarily works as a percussionist.
